Texting and Driving

My main focus for this blog is any situation with texting. So this week we're going to talk about texting and driving. Here are some statistics from a website I found called http://www.textinganddrivingsafety.com/texting-and-driving-stats/.
I'll share some interesting ones with you now. In 2011 23% of auto collisions involved cell phones, that's 1.3 million crashes. If you take your eyes off the road for 5 seconds going 55mph that's the equivalent amount of driving the length of a football field. That's insane! 82% of Americans ages 16-17 own cell phones 52% say they have talked on the phone while driving and 34% say they've texted while driving. That's pretty scary I’d say. So in my history class last year my teacher asked the class with a raise of hands who has texted while driving and an incredible 95% of us raised our hands including me. We all looked around the room in shock. I have changed my ways. Is a text that important you have to endanger yourself and those around you? Think about it.

  7. My step mom ALWAYS texts or does other stuff while she's driving and I get so mad at her. She's easily distracted in the first place and her texting doesn't help at all! You should do a post on distracted driving, it's crazy what people do!

  10. Agreed. One of the scariest places in the world to me is a high school parking lot.
